Singapore: Still the number 1 choice for meeting destination
According to the Union of International Associations(UIA) 2013 Global Rankings, Singapore still remain to be the top choice for meeting city and country all over the world.
Singapore was named as the Top International Meeting Country for the third consecutive year. Also, it was named as Top International Meeting City for the seventh consecutive year.
The city-state hosted 9.4% or total of 994 meetings that met the qualifying criteria stipulated by the association, according to survey conducted by UIA involving 147 countries and 1,465 cities. Significantly, this is a 4.4 increase from recorded in 2012 which is 952 meetings.
“Singapore’s combination of excellent infrastructure, efficiency, vibrant business ecosystem, knowledge networks, and strategic location in Asia are key attributes for meeting planners selecting the city as a host destination for their events,” according to the Singapore Tourism Board(STB).
In addition, STB’s Assistant Chief Executive, Neeta Lachmandas said, “”We are very happy to be named the top meeting country by UIA once again. Understanding our customers’ needs have always been key a focus for us, and we will continue to emphasize our efforts on reliability and efficiency, giving them peace of mind when they attend or hold their events in Singapore.”
Singapore was also named as Asia’s Top Convention City for the 12th consecutive year by the International Congress and Convention Association(ICCA).
